The Disco Bandits have arrived in Doha – fresh off the international scene. Four musicians with extraordinary style and an explosive flair for music.

Akram the golden voice (Singer behind David Vendetta, ‘Unidos para la musica’)

Born in the south of France to Tunisian parents, Akram’s (a member of the Disco Bandits) first love was traditional Arabic melodies. In his teens, pop legends like Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley, influenced his style as he developed a powerful voice that is completely unique and soulful.

DJ Dove Bombsoda (Resident DJ - Jimmy’z Montecarlo/ Cirque Le Soir London/ Via Notte Corsica).

One of the hottest talents to emerge from France in the past few years. His versatile, eclectic sound has earned him kudos from some of the most glamorous nightclubs in Saint Tropez and Paris.

Micah the violinist (Amnesia Ibiza/ Sa Trinxa Ibiza, Ibiza Ocean Club)

Micah started playing the violin at age 2, and at 13 performed with Liza Minnelli at the Philadelphia Academy of Music. Today his sound, fusing violin and electronic music, is in great demand as he tours prestigious clubs across the US.

Ruben Moranon sax (Amnesia Ibiza/ Sa Trinxa Ibiza).

A dynamic and talented saxophonist, improviser, composer and producer. Ruben has played all over the world, alongside the likes of Erick Morillo, David Vendetta, Junior Sanchez, Tom Novy, Smoking Jo, Harry “Choo Choo” Romero & Jamie Lewis to name a few.

Expect an unprecedented, powerful, crazy performance where anything can happen.

DJ Sam Starks

Our favourite DJ is back at ILLUSION! And on 2nd December he’ll be supporting the Disco Bandits and displaying his insane skills behind the decks.

Here's a short Q&A conducted with the Disco Bandits about their experience in Qatar so far.

Q: How do you try and keep your music dynamic?

A: One of the biggest factors that work’s for us is that we all come from very different backgrounds and The Disco Bandits, as a whole, is definitely a cultural music pot. We quite literally are from 4 corners of the world! Akram is born to Tunisian parents but is from France along with DJ Dove; Micah is from Philadelphia and Ruben has his Spanish roots. Our individual cultural backgrounds keep us constantly motivated to come with new tracks and flavors in our music.

Electro and House music as genres are constantly evolving and people will never stop loving it! We draw inspiration from our respective music cultures back home, as well as the diverse music industry today, and that keeps us on track!

Q: What do you consider to be incisive points in your music career as a team?

A: There are way too many to be honest and it would not be fair to point out any particular incident or high point but in general, we love it when we play in our respective home towns or when people from all over the globe come together to watch us at an event. The love and appreciation we get from our friends, family and supporters is just unbelievable and something that is truly gratifying every single time. It is absolutely ecstatic to be able to communicate to scores of people using music in so many different ways and yet the love and emotion that is shared remains the same.

Q: How do you like Qatar and are you enjoying your experience here so far?

A: We love traveling and Qatar is definitely an extremely hospitable country and the love for music here is pretty intense. We have been here before individually to perform as well and loved the response and participation we got from the crowds here. There have been innumerable music and entertainment events taking place here and it just keeps getting better and better every season.

We are looking forward to celebrating this Friday with the folks of Qatar at Illusion and we have some great sets in store for the night. We are absolutely passionate about our music and we love what we do. Our heart and soul goes into using our varied styles of music as a universal language to spread some love wherever we go.

Doors open for ILLUSION's dinner and show from 8:00 pm onwards.
