Philippine star set to thrill Doha audience Charice Pempengco is set to stage what could be one of the largest music events in Qatar Filipino singer and star of the hit television series, ‘Glee,’ Charice Pempengco is set to stage a concert in Qatar next month, with around 15,000 fans expected to see the young star perform a two-hour show. The concert will take place on September 29 at 8pm, and is expected to be one of the largest events to be held here appealing to the large local Filipino community as well as music fans from around the world. The event is being organised by Golden Relations and will be held on the warmup track around Khalifa Stadium with tickets priced at QR150 and QR350. Charice has recorded songs such as ‘Pyramid’ with singer Iyaz and ‘Before it Explodes,’ which was written by Bruno Mars. She came to prominence after being invited to perform on US comedienne Ellen DeGeneres’ show, before making an appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show where the hostess described her as “the most talented girl in the world.” CEO of Golden Relations, Bilal Taha said: “Since announcing the event early last month we have been flooded with enquiries via Facebook and on Twitter for more information regarding the show.” “It took us time to announce the venue as we wanted a bigger place that could accommodate at least 15,000 people,” he noted, adding “we are expecting a big turnout for the event since Charice’s followers are not only Filipinos but other nationalities as well.” Charice, who plays Sunshine Corazon in the second series of ‘Glee’ has also sung alongside Celine Dion, David Foster and David Archuleta.
