Mandarin Oriental, Doha is an intimate and stylish urban retreat that's perfectly located in the centre of Msheireb Downtown Doha, and overlooks the Barahat Msheireb town square which is the new lifestyle and cultural heart of the city. The hotel blends chic and contemporary design with elegant and subtle touches of Qatari heritage and traditions, bringing new levels of luxury to Qatar. In other words, it's the perfect place to celebrate Qatar National Day 2020!
Qatar National Day, also known as Founder’s Day, is celebrated in Qatar every year on 18 December to commemorate the country’s unification in 1878, and this year is no different. The reason to celebrate is the same, but the concept is different at Mandarin Oriental, Doha.
Here are three reasons why you really must celebrate this auspicious occasion at Mandarin Oriental, Doha this year
This year, the Mandarin Oriental, Doha is celebrating Qatar National Day 2020 with an art exhibition called ‘Our Values Inspire Art’. The exhibition will showcase the artworks of students from the Qatar Academy Msheireb. This series of artworks reflects and symbolises the moral and social values that are mentioned throughout The Holy Quran. The artworks depict the artists' interpretations of social values that include family, friendship, equality, unity, peace along with the moral values of honesty, mercy, modesty, responsibility and respect for others.
The ‘Our Values Inspire Art’ exhibition is being hosted by the Mandarin Oriental, Doha's Mandarin Lounge which has a relaxed setting that's great for all types of get-togethers, including inspirational exhibitions of this kind. At the Lounge, you can not only enjoy looking at the various artworks done by students but also savour the finest coffees, teas, small bites and other mouthwatering delicacies that are on offer.
‘Our Values Inspire Art’ exhibition will be open for public viewing in December 2020 and is definitely worth a visit.
The Qatar Academy Msheireb was established in 2014 and is a state-of-the-art Early Years and Primary School that follows the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, and is also a Council of International Schools member. It's a part of Qatar Foundation that operates under Pre-University Education, and its main mission is to create an effective learning environment to develop internationally minded and empathetic lifelong learners through a dual-language programme that emphasises on inquiry-based practices.
This December, in celebration of Qatar National Day, you can enjoy the limited-edition Qatar National Day 2020 cake that's beautifully crafted by Mandarin Oriental, Doha's talented pastry team and packaged in a bespoke design by The Creative Union, a creative studio that specialises in impactful branding and meaningful designs. The packaging will showcase Qatar Academy Msheireb students’ artistic interpretations of Qatari traditions and culture. The students have also created poetry in honour of Qatar and each is proudly presented on the bespoke packaging.
The Qatar Academy Msheireb students artworks on display at the Mandarin Lounge are available for purchase, and so is the limited edition Qatar National Day cake which you can buy throughout December on the Mandarin Oriental, Doha’s online shop, Shop MO.
Mandarin Oriental, Doha will donate a portion of the proceeds from each limited-edition cake to a charity chosen by the students of Qatar Academy Msheireb and serve to bring together the different communities residing here as one in honour of Qatar, and in celebration of this great country's National Day.
