RESTAURANTS in the Pearl-Qatar are donating 10 percent of their revenues during the Holy Month of Ramadan to charity. The restaurants include Burj Al Hamam, Pampano and Chocolate Bar. The United Development Company (UDC) hosted children from Dhreima Qatar Orphan Foundation for Iftar at the Pearl-Qatar’s Lebanese restaurant Burj Al Hamam recently. The initiative was as part of a number of activities undertaken by the UDC in the framework of its corporate social responsibility. It demonstrated UDC’s commitment to Dhreima and other institutions that work in promoting community development. A Dhreima official said, “We would like to thank the UDC and Pearl-Qatar for inviting children from Dhreima to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the UDC and Pearl-Qatar in special events in the coming months.” Abdulrahim al Ibrahim, director of The Pearl-Qatar Central Authority Directorate (TCAD), said, “We are honoured to host children from Dhreima for iftar. This initiative comes within the framework of the activities we have undertaken to serve all segments of society and to foster a spirit of solidarity among the community. I am pleased to participate on behalf of the UDC in initialising this unique event.” ‘’These children need our support and assistance. We commend the considerable efforts undertaken by the Dhreima Qatar Orphan Foundation and will continue to support their humanitarian mission.” Walid Maalouf, general manager for acquisition & development at Hospitality Development Company, which manages and operates a number of restaurants on the Pearl-Qatar, said, “Ramadan is a month of generosity and hospitality and we at HDC are delighted to donate 10 percent of our restaurants revenue during this month. This donation will benefit charities and is a contribution to meet our commitment towards the community in which we operate.” http://www.qatar-tribune.com/data/20110815/content.asp?section=nation3_2
