The Air Force interchange stretch in the busy F-Ring Road will be partially closed beginning tomorrow until January 11 due works related to the Red Line of Doha Metro project, Qatar Rail has announced on its website. An alternative route will be provided through the service roads so as to minimize the effect of closure on the movement of traffic. Qatar Rail has apologized for any inconvenience the public may experience due to the road closure and diversion.
The Red Line, also known as the Coast Line, is stretched across 39 kilometres from Al Wakra to Lusail. It has 18 stations, including West Bay, Katara and Qatar University and also connects Hamad International Airport at Terminal 1 to the centre of the city.
The Red Line promises to offer a very convenient and reliable alternative to driving within the heart of Doha. A trip from the airport to Lusail, which currently takes around an hour and a half at peak hour, is expected to be reduced to a little over 30 minutes through Doha Metro.
