DOHA: The Consumer Protection Department (CPD) has started legal action against a commercial outlet that was found selling goods beyond their expiry date. The shop owner has been accused of cheating customers by concealing the actual expiry date and putting a new sticker showing a false date. CPD inspectors detected the violation during a routine raid on the shop. The shop was found to be selling a hair oil with brand name “black,” with expired validity, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday. “The shop has cheated customers by changing the expiry date and selling the product with a new label showing a wrong expiry date,” the paper quoted CPD statement as saying.
