Ooredoo to Send 11 Children to Meet Football Star at Special Training Session, Parents Can Enter on Ooredoo Facebook Page
Ooredoo has launched an innovative free Facebook contest, enabling 11 children to live their dreams of practicing with the world’s greatest football player. On 20 May, Lionel “Leo” Messi, the football star and Ooredoo global ambassador, will visit Doha to make a major announcement that will enhance the lives of children in Ooredoo’s global footprint, including in Qatar. As part of Ooredoo’s commitment to giving back to the community, and helping youth reach their full potential, Ooredoo will send 11 children to a special coaching session with Messi on that day, to learn inside tips on football with him. Parents can enter the social media contest “Play for your dream! Train with Messi!” on a special tab on the Ooredoo Facebook page, until 17 May. In order to enter the contest at, parents can answer two questions on behalf of children who are 8-14 years old: “Why does your kid want to play with Messi?” and “If he/she could ask him a question, what would it be?” They also must provide the child’s full name, age, and a phone number and email address. Ooredoo’s management team will select the 11 winners based on the best entries, and the winners will be announced on Facebook. To enter, parents must be at least 21 years old and have a valid Qatar ID. The prize is non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives. This contest is another way that Ooredoo has been a leader in using social media and new technology to connect with customers, following successful social media contests for Qatar National Day and recently launching the new Ooredoo app for Apple devices. Demonstrating the company’s social media success, the Ooredoo Facebook page recently passed the milestone of 250,000 fans and continues to grow. Ooredoo customers can expect more original contests and promotions in the coming months.
