People keen to fill in the Population Census 2010 form online can register their names with the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) soon. The registration form will be available on the website of QSA from April 20, a day before the census begins. But before that, the QSA will through the email addresses of those who opt for online registration for the census, will provide guidelines on how to fill in the census form. The preliminary registration service has evoked good public response, says Sheikh Hamad bin Jabor bin Jassim al Thani, QSA President. The QSA in collaboration with Qtel and Vodafone will send messages via mobile phones to the people highlighting the necessity of online registration. The online form will contain space for details like name, identity card (ID) number, e-mail address, and home electricity number to be used as basic data. The online registration will be besides the data being collected by QSA enumerators for the 2010 census. A direct phone line and the QSA website will be available for public to make enquiries regarding the census. A public awareness drive will be launched about the census soon. A special survey will be conducted immediately after the census for data verification and their quality. The first preparatory phase of the 2010 General Census of Population, Housing and Commercial Establishments began successfully and field work continues until month-end. In the second phase forms will be delivered to families and they will be required to fill in details like their names, ID card numbers, date of birth, educational status and occupation. The population census starts from April 21, 2010. Heads of families should provide full information to enumerators about themselves and every other person who lives with them in the house most of time, including relatives, children, housemaids and drivers.
