The Qatar Embassy in France tweeted that "in a heinous and unjustified crime, an Embassy guard was killed in Paris on Monday (23 May 2022) morning, and as soon as the crime occurred, the authorities arrested the suspect and began investigations.

"We await the results of the investigations and call for the privacy of the deceased's family to be respected. The Embassy expresses feelings of sadness and sorrow over this crime and extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased."

A report by Reuters on 23 May 2022 mentioned that the Paris prosecutor's office said a person has been killed at the Qatar Embassy in Paris and a person has been arrested as part of the investigation.

According to the report, "a source close to the investigation said the person killed in the early hours of Monday (23 May 2022) was a security guard and that the death did not appear to have been a terrorism act.

Reuters also reported that it was not clear yet if a weapon had been used. "I can confirm that an investigation was opened today on the count of murder," the prosecutor's office said.

As per Le Parisien, the victim was allegedly beaten to death. The report mentioned, "according to a police source, the individual broke into the Embassy and beat a security guard to death. The victim died on the spot". The suspect is known to have a psychiatric history.
