:LuLu Group is planning to open one outlet every year in Qatar from 2014, said Mohamed Althaf, Regional Director of LuLu Group in Qatar. Speaking to Gulf Times on the sidelines of the Cityscape Qatar Exhibition 2013, Althaf said that the group was engaged in a feasibility study in various parts of the country to identify suitable locations to set up new outlets. Althaf said that the group was planning for many developments in the country in the next few years. “Qatari market is very robust. From next year onwards, we will set up at least one store every year. It can be a hypermarket or a department store or any other one. By 2020 we plan to add another six or seven outlets to our existing shops,” he said. He also said that LuLu will set up its next outlet in Barwa City. “We will set up our next outlet in Barwa City. It will be opened by the end of this year or early next year. We are also in negotiations with Barwa officials to start two more outlets in Barwa complexes.” The official further stated that the group has completed all the procedure for setting up a hypermarket in the Messilah complex near Hamad Medical Corporation. He said: “The ground-breaking ceremony for the building will take place within two to three months. It will be a hypermarket on the similar scale of the existing ones in Gharaffa and D Ring Road.” A hypermarket is also planned in Wakrah. LuLu Group has at present five outlets in Qatar including three hypermarkets, one department store and a convenience store. Source : Qatar Chronicle
