One more place of worship of the Indian Christian community started functioning as St Thomas CSI church was consecrated at a Holy Mass at the Inter-Denominational Church Complex, Mesaimeer, yesterday. Bishop of Church of South India (CSI) Madhya Kerala diocese, headquartered at Kerala’s Kottayam, Rev Thomas Samuel was the chief celebrant at the ceremony, also attended by priests of the denomination and other Christian congregations. Bishop Samuel expressed his community’s gratitude to the Qatar government which granted the land for the construction of the complex, which houses the denomination’s place of worship. The bishop also lauded the efforts of community members towards church building. A public meeting was also held where representatives of the IDCC and Indian Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa were present. The envoy recalled the contributions of the church in India’s development. The CSI church is also moving to the IDCC. The St Thomas CSI Church has been built by members of the CSI Madhya Kerala diocese, to which most community members residing in Qatar belonged.
