The Aspire Park management has denied reports about preventing men not wearing sportswear from entering the park.
“The news that has been spreading through social media is not true. There are no restrictions on people wearing Qatari dress from entering the park, and nobody is asking people to come in sportswear,” an official was quoted saying by Al Sharq.
If at all some security guards tried to prevent a visitor from entering the park because of his clothes, it was done on a personal basis. The corporation had nothing to do with it, the official said. Some people are only trying to spread rumours, he added.
The official said the Aspire foundation adheres to the state law, and it cannot stop anyone from entering the park because of their clothes, adding that the management is encouraging families to visit the park.
He, meanwhile, also said that visitors to the Aspire Park should stick to decent clothes.
Earlier, many men complained about Aspire Park management preventing them from entering the park because of their clothes. The management drew criticism from the Qatari and expatriate communities, who said that enforcing a sports dress code in a public park is unfair.
