E-41-Interchange

The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' has opened two new intersections on Industrial Area Streets 41 and 1110 and the South Collector Road on the East Industrial Street, to create easy access for traffic between Industrial Area, Industrial Area Road, G Ring Road and Hamad Port Road in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

The opening of the signalized junction linking Street 41 with East Industrial Street will streamline movement towards Industrial Area from Industrial Area Road and Salwa Road, especially after upgrading 180m of Street 41 as well.

The other signal-controlled intersection connecting Street 1110 with the East Industrial Street will enhance traffic in the area, particularly from East 33 Interchange on Industrial Area Road towards Aba Seleel Interchange on G Ring Road.

The two new intersections will serve as major access points under the main bridge, linking Industrial Area and its local roads directly with East Industrial Street, Industrial Area Road, G Ring Road along with Asian Town, Labour City and key and vital businesses and facilities around.

The South Service Road will also enhance traffic between Hamad Port Road, G-Ring Road, the Industrial Area Road heading towards Salwa Road and Furousiya Street.

Eng. Nasser Dalmouk, of the Highway Projects Department in Ashghal, emphasized that the East Industrial Street Extension Upgrade Project is a vital link between road users coming from southern areas such as Mesaieed, Al Wakrah and Al Wukair to directly reach the Industrial Area and up to Salwa Road and Al Furousiya Street to Al Rayyan and Al Gharrafa. He also pointed out that the new openings complement the achievements Ashghal has accomplished on this vital project. With these openings, the East Industrial Street Extension Upgrade Project's percentage of completion reaches up to 92%, where the project is expected to be completed by mid-2020.

Upon project works completion, about 70% of local material has been used. The project includes the implementation of infrastructure services with a length of 9,464-metres, the use of 87,854 cubic metres of concrete, 52,597 tons of rebar used and rainwater drainage tunnels with a length of 1885 metres. In addition to 89,269 tons of asphalt along with the installation of 567 street light poles and 270 directional signs, as well as the construction of two electrical substations.
