A national in his 30s has filed a lawsuit against a government department demanding damages to the tune of QR2m for what he claims has been an unjustified layoff. He has claimed that his terminal benefits have not been paid to him and that he had been left unemployed after years of serving this department with honesty and diligence. He claimed that some people kept disturbing him workplace so he was not able to perform his duties well. “I have been facing pressure all along to resign on my own, but I refused,” he told the court in his plea. He said he was thereafter shunted to some remote place so he would be forced to quit but he did not. But he said he was treated as absent from duty and sacked. “I then contacted the administration of the department which employed me and they promised to launch an investigation but to no avail.” The man said he was, therefore, forced to approach the court for justice. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=July2009&file=Local_News2009072315815.xml
