The mystery about the two Qatari children of divorced parents who went missing in Makkah on June 7, is deepening. In a new twist to the row, the Family Consultancy Centre has said the dispute over the custody of the children between their estranged parents is old and was first brought to its notice in 2005. The father and mother wanted an amicable end to the dispute over the custody of their offspring. “We, in fact, actively intervened and made sure that the father met his children regularly without permission from the court,” an official of the Centre said, obliquely hinting that the children were staying with their mother after the divorce. However, from 2006 onwards the parents suddenly stopped visiting the Centre and the latter tried to find out what happened to them and the children, but in vain. The Centre said that in June this year, the father came to them along with the brother of his former wife informing them about the fact that the children had disappeared while in Makkah. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=July2009&file=Local_News2009072814314.xml
