The doors to the Museum of Illusions (MOI) are finally opening to the public on 21 September. It has some amazing features based on science, mathematics, biology, and psychology to trick your eyes and mind. Located in the heart of the West Bay at the premises of The Gate Mall, the museum is designed to amuse, amaze and stimulate the senses.
You’ll question everything at the new museum that aims to fool you in different interesting ways—looking like a giant, feeling off-kilter or get you hanging upside down through an optical illusion.
The museum consists of illusionistic rooms, optical illusions, a playroom with didactic games and puzzles and much more exciting features. The idea is to teach visitors about perception, vision, and the human brain. Scroll all the way down to get to know some of the features of the museum.
The museum has many photo zones where you can take a bunch of creative photos with an illusion effect. You will be amazed by the photos filled with an unusual background.
We just talked about photo illusion but what is an optical illusion? Optical Illusions can use color, light, and patterns to create images that can be deceptive or misleading to our brains. Optical Illusions at the museum will leave you bewildered by playing tricks, confusing your eyes and brain.
Do you know that what you see in the mirror when you look at yourself is not how people see you? By visiting the true mirror room, you will be able to look at your true reflection, and see what others see.
Head on a tray? How scary scenery is that? Well, it’s time to experience that. Nobody involved will be hurt. Everybody will have just fun.
Are you ready to radically change your view of the world? How about 90 degrees? Have photos of incredible poses taken! Your imagination is the limit.
This room allows you to take photos as if you are standing on a wall in a zero-gravity room. It’s just nothing more than a brain basher and will even stir those who believe in the laws of physics as your brain and eyes make insensible inferences about whether you are standing on a flat or slanted surface. What you will see will be unbelievable as balls roll upwards, water flows uphill—you will be just astonished!
The museum also has a smart & fun playroom for the brain to discover a fascinating visual, sensual an educational experience with a handful of new, unexplored illusions.
The playroom stimulates learning and fun with Dilemma games, wooden puzzles and games, which stimulate cognitive abilities and turn the playroom into a real fitness center for your brain.
You can also buy Dilemma games in their smart shop to take home an optical illusion, an educational toy for your young ones, 3D light, T-shirt, notebook or at least a pencil. There are over 70 Dilemma games to choose for yourself or as a gift.
