The Municipalities of Doha and Al Rayyan have introduced a new electronic system for dealing with public complaints. The system which comes into force from today is in keeping with the framework of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP) initiative — “Municipality without Papers”. The new programme will be introduced in other municipalities in phases later in keeping with the directives of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning H E Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Khalifa Al Thani. Public complaints received on the website of the Ministry, in person, through the mass media, or contact centre would be registered centrally and referred to the respective department or section. The system will provide quick and easy contacts among municipalities. It will also make the follow-up of complaints by senior officials easy if the response is delayed or exceeds the fixed duration. The complaints would be referred to a higher official in case the official concerned fails to act, and finally to the minister. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=November2009&file=Local_News2009111543345.xml
