Msheireb Properties announced the launch of the Msheireb Downtown Doha self-powered tram today. The tram will connect the different parts of Msheireb and make it easy for those in the area to move from one place to another with ease and convenience. It is the main transport network throughout the smart and sustainable city’s locations and facilities.
There are nine different stations - Msheireb Tram goes through nine stations; Sahat Al Nakheel Station, Wadi Msheireb Station, Galleria Station, Msheireb Prayer Station, Heritage Quarter Station, Al Baraha Station, Sahat Al Masjid Station, Al Kahraba Street Station, and Al Mariah Street Station - giving everyone multiple points of access to the tramway. with a tram car available for passengers every six minutes and a 400 metre hop-on/hop-off zone along the single 2 km of closed-loop tram track system. The tram cars are also equipped with onboard wifi, Virtual Tram Detection and tram priority at traffic signals, along with tram timings in realtime on the trams and at the stations, according to The Peninsula.
All areas of Msheireb Downtown Doha are linked by the Msheireb Tram system within 18 minutes, with a station at the Central Msheireb Metro Station, where the Doha Metro lines can all be accessed.
