A Turkish firm is to help Mowasalat to improve its operational control and quality control. Speaking on the sidelines of the UTIP Congress yesterday, business development director Ahmed al-Ansari said the transport firm was looking for a solution backed by efficient business process and industry standard technologies to provide information about operations, vehicles and drivers. The senior company official said Kentkart from Turkey would provide IT software. The solutions provided by the Turkish firm would help reduce costs, he said. Mowasalat director of IT Operations Jehad Abeido said the solutions would help the company reduce overheads in the long run. “We have tested the technology on about 30 of the company’s buses in the last three months and results have been encouraging,” said the IT official. “Our partner has been able to deliver eco-friendly and environmental-friendly solutions that are useful in climatic conditions like those prevailing in Qatar,” said Abeido. At present, new applications would be used only on public transport, said Abeido. The new technology would be useful in fare-collection, he said. General manager of Kentkart Ercan Unal said the tie up with a fast developing public transport provider like Mowasalat was a major recognition of his company abilities. The Turkish company’s marketing official Guliz Zzturk was also present. http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=322634&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
