DOHA • The Public Transport Company (Mowasalat) has installed an accurate automated system to detect any violations or cheating committed by its drivers, Eng Ahmed Bou Sherback, Mowasalat Executive Manager told Al Sharq, while urging passengers' cooperation in informing whenever there is a case of neglect or non-operation of vehicle meters.
He acknowledged that the local market needed 2,400 cabs, adding that Mowasalat has been working hard to deliver high quality services to customers.
During the year, the company has replaced 300 cabs with new brand ones, he added.
The company, he said is working with Q-tel to improve and update its telecommunication system. Regarding cooperation with security authorities, he said the company receives good cooperation from Internal Security Forces and Traffic and Patrol Department.
Asked if the company has any plans to introduce road services to neighbouring countries, he said that was an idea already being discussed and the board of directors was keen on it, but such projects take time.
On renting out a car to drivers, he said the system has gained much success, citing that when the company launched it there were only 25 drivers which has now increased to more than 500.
