We've reported yesterday that starting July 15, 2018, all taxi booking charges as well as technology service charges will be waived. The announcement, which was made by Mowasalat on their Twitter account, includes the 5 QR telephone booking charge within Doha city per trip, and the 8 QR booking charge to Hamad International Airport.

While Karwa taxi customers can book taxis round-the-clock through the Karwa App and by simply calling Mowasalat's Unified Call Center, majority still hails cabs on the road—despite the severe weather.

Mowasalat has taken the decision to scrap the additional charges based on market needs, and to provide competitive fares to taxi users.

In a circular released by Mowasalat today, they enumerated a number of convincing reasons why pedestrians who use public transport in Doha should stick to Karwa's services. Here are some of them:

  • The Karwa taxi app includes the facility to book either taxi or limousine, and operatesthrough the whole eco-system under the unified call center.
  • Mowasalat has implemented main improvements to taxi deployment in terms of efficiency, policies and process to ultimately achieve 'customer satisfaction,' where taxi users can book and track their trip through the implemented GPS tracking system.
  • The metered rates are charged as per published tariff and no preferential price or search price system. The customer receipt will show the total fare with the break up elements.
  • Mowasalat will continue to focus on developing the application through updated and improvements to extend their services in order to meet the needs of the transportation industry in Qatar.
  • Mowasalat's taxi vehicles are luxury sedans adopting to unified taxi standards as stipulated by the regulating authority and are replaced every 5-year period on an average.
  • Karwa drivers are trained with internationally accredited training programs and practical demonstration through safety equipment and simulator to have the feel of driving on Qatar roads. They were recruited after ascertaining basic criteria of local country driving license, besides Qatari driving license, and English proficiency and literacy. In addition, they went through training to get familiarized with Qatari roads, traditions and customs. On the other hand, drivers are accommodated in Karwa city, which boasts of township facilities.
  • Lastly, Mowasalat places customer service as top priority besides meeting with the growing demand and country needs.
