The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has decided to adjust the waiting time between the adhan and the second call to prayer time. Starting from the afternoon (Asar) prayers on 12 July 2021, mosques will open 20 minutes before the second call to all the prayers, except for the sunset (Maghrib) prayer which will open 10 minutes before the second call to prayer, according to Al-Raya.

The Awqaf has taken all precautionary and preventive measures against COVID-19, and those who will head to mosques should:

  • Wear face masks in mosques.
  • Bring their own prayer mats and maintain a safe distance of one and a half meters in between worshippers.
  • Avoid crowding at the gates and doors of mosques and prayer grounds and follow safe distancing.
  • Show the green status on the EHTERAZ app upon entrance to mosques and prayer grounds.
  • Not shake hands.
  • Maintain social distancing.
  • Cooperate with members of the Organising Committee of the Mosques Management Department.

The Ministry also reiterated that children under the age of seven years will be not be allowed in mosques and women's prayer areas in mosques will remain closed until further notice.
