Mowasalat will be replacing its old fleet of taxis soon, a company spokesperson said yesterday.
"Karwa will add 300 new taxis to its fleet over the next two months," said Ahmed Al Ansari, Business Development Director. "Our endeavour is to provide good vehicles and good service to passengers."
The plan to introduce new taxis is to meet the increasing demands of residents. Karwa has around 2,200 taxis and also operates limousine service with a pool of more than 6,000 drivers.
With an increase in the number of workforce due to the number of new projects and public infrastructure development work going on currently in Qatar, there is great demand for bus and taxi services within Doha and the far-flung industrial towns like Al Khor, Messaieed and Dukhan.
Karwa, however, said it has no plans to start long distance bus routes to other GCC states. "The idea is being mulled, but we have other priorities as of now," said Al Ansari.
The Pen
I just hope that Karwa starts a 'Bonuses for taking care of your taxi' scheme. Some drivers damage their cars because they just don't care.
