More rains today, tomorrow

The meteorology department has forecast unstable weather today and tomorrow with chances of scattered and sometimes heavy rains at some places accompanied by thunder and strong winds. Low pressure prevailing in the upper levels of air over the Gulf yesterday has caused the unstable weather conditions, Abdullah Al Mannai, head of weather forecast and analysis, told this newspaper last evening. Many areas of the city, its suburbs and other parts of the country began witnessing intermittent rains beginning a little after 1 pm yesterday, with the mercury taking a slight dip. Day temperatures have been forecast at up to 36 and 37 degrees Celsius today, but winds blowing from the cooler north-western direction at speeds of up to 20 knots may turn the weather — partly cloudy to cloudy — pleasant.
