The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announces its initiative to support the prices of sacrificial animals for Qatari citizens. The initiative will begin on Tuesday 13 July 2021 and will go on till Friday 23 July 2021 (the fourth day of Eid al-Adha).

The initiative comes within the framework of the Ministry's continuous efforts to encourage local production and ensure the availability of sacrifices to citizens at reasonable prices during the days of Eid al-Adha, in order to create a balance between supply and demand, which contributes to limiting price increases.

Under the initiative, it was agreed with the Widam Food Company (Widam) to provide approximately 12,500 heads of Arab sheep (local Awassi Arab - Syrian) to be sold at subsidized and reduced prices to citizens according to the following weights and prices:

  1. Local sheep (Awassi Arabi) 35 kg and above at QR 1,000
  2. Syrian lamb 45 kg and above at QR 950

The sacrifices will be sold in the slaughterhouses of Widam Food Company in the market (Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Khor, Al Mazroua and Al Sheehaniya).

The conditions for taking advantage of this initiative require that citizens be sold only, at the rate of one live sheep, and the ID card must be presented to complete the sale, and the buyer must be at least 20 years old (born in 2001 and above).

The ministry emphasizes the intensification of its inspection campaigns to ensure that the prices supported and the integrity of the procedures for carrying out the sale of sacrifices are in place.

It also urges all consumers to report any irregularities or irregularities and receives complaints and suggestions through the following communication channels: -
