The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) will soon develop a new smartphone application that will help users locate all public and private healthcare facilities in the country as reported by Qatar Chronicle. The SCH has just published a map showing the location of hospitals, clinics and primary health centres in the country. A senior SCH official said yesterday that the mobile application is the next phase of this project. The map in the form of a folder will soon be made available at the airport and other points of entry, hotels, shopping malls and other public places, Dr Jamal Rashid Al Khanji, director of the Health Quality Management Department at SCH told The Peninsula yesterday. “The next and more important phase of this project is to develop a smartphone application giving information about all healthcare facilities in the country. Once this is ready, the users will be able to search and locate any facility using their smartphones,” said Al Khanji. For instance, if a person has a toothache while driving, the new application will assist him in locating the facility in a few seconds, he added. The app can be used by all smartphones including the iPhone, Android-based phones and the BlackBerry. “This project was proposed some time ago but the implementation has been delayed because we couldn’t find a company that has the expertise to develop this application. We will soon issue a tender inviting bids from potential companies,” said Al Khanji. The application will also allow the users to store their medical data in phones and get alerts about medicines they might be using. “If you add a new prescription and if it does not match with the medicines you had been taking earlier, the application will give you an automatic alert,” said Al Khanji. He said SCH will provide a PDF version of the just launched “health map” on its website if there is a demand from the public Source :Qatar Chronicle
