The Ministry of Municipality and Environment launched Thursday a new festival for Qatari farms' products. The launch took place at Al Gharafa's Lulu Hypermarket.
Director of the food security department at the ministry Masoud Jarallah Al Marri said that 150 farms participated in this year's event. He added that the festival, which takes place at the start of the agricultural season each year aims to support national products, as part of the ministry's strategy of promoting high-quality national products. He highlighted that this year's event is characterised by the high quality of products.
He highlighted that the ministry implemented a number of projects that encouraged farmers to improve the quality of their products. He also said that Qatar has signed many free trade agreements and that its markets are open to products worldwide. He said that Qatari agricultural produce reached 92 thousand tons. He added that the ministry aims to locally produce 70% of the market needs by 2023.
