A citizen has alleged that his wife suffered a miscarriage following complications caused by the food she had consumed at a restaurant in Muaither, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.
The man filed a complaint at Al Rayyan police station, saying that he, his wife and daughter had gone to the restaurant for a meal. However, after having the food, his wife started vomiting and complained of nausea, he alleged.
The citizen said he took his wife to a hospital after her condition deteriorated and she eventually suffered a miscarriage, according to the report.
The complainant said the Al Rayyan police station sent a letter to Al Rayyan Municipality to take necessary action in the matter and collect a sample of the food eaten by the family for inspection, the report added.
The inspection, however, revealed that the food was fit for consumption and did not pose any health hazard. Al Sharq later learnt that the citizen had claimed that the results of the inspection were inaccurate as the actual sample of the food they had eaten was disposed of before the municipality’s team arrived at the restaurant, according to the report.
