The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), on 14 December 2022, announced that the Marine Protection Department, Al Khor Unit, seized an attempt to smuggle many seabirds into Al Khor Port. The violating vehicle was seized before it could escape.

The ministry also mentioned that fine was issued against the violators, they were referred to the prosecution, and the birds were released immediately. The ministry notes that it is prohibited to hunt, sell or transport all wild animals without obtaining a permit from the ministry. Whoever violates this law will be subject to legal accountability.
