Ministry of Interior Takes Part in the "2nd Kerala Cultural Awareness Meet"

In the framework of Ministry of Interior's communication program with expatriate communities supervised by the Public Relations Department in coordination with concerned departments in the Ministry, the General Directorate of Boarders Passports and Expatriates Affairs, Public Relations, Coasts and Borders Security, Traffic and Civil Defense Departments under the Ministry of Interior took part in the 2nd Cultural Awareness Meet organized by the Kerala Cultural Centre at Qatar Sports Club on last Friday 22/1/2010 evening. Brig. Abdullah Salim Al Ali, Director General of General Directorate of Boarders Passports and Expatriates Affairs, Lt. Col. Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of Public Relations in the Ministry of Interior, Ayidh Bin Dabsan Al Qahtani, Director General of Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services, Dr. Hassan Al Bairooni from the Ministry of Municipality and Planning Development, officers from different departments in the ministry of interior in addition to Adel Al Mahdi and Faisal Al Hudawi from Communities Communication Office in the Public Relations Department attended the program. On the occasion, representing the Interior Ministry of Qatar, Brigadier. Abdullah Salem Al-Ali delivered a speech in which he extended the greetings of Minister of State for Interior Affairs H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani and Staff Major General. Saad Bin Jassim Al Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security to the audience and mentioned to the basics of cooperation and strong relationship that link the public with Ministry of Interior. In his speech, he also pointed out to the importance of cooperation and joint awareness works between the public and the ministry to achieve more benefits for both the public and the ministry in the field of safety, stability and elimination of all forms of crimes. "The Ministry of Interior is keen to cooperate with all communities living in the country through taking part in all events and occasions to spread security awareness among them and familiarize them the laws prevailing in the country as it will help the communities to become acquainted with them and to know to avoid the violation or noncompliance" said Brig. Al Ali. At the end of his speech, Brig. Abdullah Salem Al-Ali thanked the Indian community for inviting the Ministry of Interior to take part in the meet and its activities. Then, the "Communities Communication Office" in the Public Relations Department gave a PowerPoint presentation in which, Faisal Al Hudawi translated the contents of the presentation that aimed at introducing the importance of joint cooperation between police and public and significance of exchanging information, thoughts and comments to accomplish more security and stability. He also explained about some wrong behaviors that are practiced by the members of expatriate community by mistake that may be a reason for the creation of many problems like not caring the traditions and customs prevailing in the country such as gathering in the markets, rushing with families, not wearing proper dresses in the public places, absconding of labors and sleeping in the public places or in the arrival terminal of the airport. The presentation also comprised of many other security and awareness advices and guidelines. After that, Lt. Col. Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of Public Relations Department delivered a speech in which he thanked Kerala Cultural Centre and pointed out that the frameworks of joint cooperation is continuous. He also stressed on the desire of the Ministry for participating in the programs like this because it will promote the spirit of cooperation and fraternity and the public relations department in the ministry is keen to invite the communities to attend all awareness activities and programs organized by different departments in the ministry, Lt. Col. Al Muftad added. At the end of the meet, Abbobacker Al Qasimi, President of Kerala Cultural Centre expressed the gratitude and appreciation of Indian community members for the ministry for taking part in the meet with an awareness presentation and pavilion and the complete loyalty for the leaders of Qatar. He also promised the keenness of the Indians in compliance with rules and regulations of Qatar and respect to the Qatar customs and traditions. ILQ NEWS
