Ministry reduces settlement amounts for correcting illegal status of violating expats

Illegal Qatar residents can avail amnesty without legal action till 31 December 2021: MOI

The Ministry of Interior announced that it will continue to receive requests for expatriate workers in violation of the provisions of Law No. (21) of 2015 regulating the entry, exit and residence of expatriates, in light of the deadline for correcting the illegal status of violating expatriates, which will end on December 31 this year.

On October 10, the Ministry of Interior began receiving requests for violating expatriates through a number of service centers located in a number of regions in the country.

In this regard, Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ansari, Director of the Unified Services Department at the Ministry, said that it was decided to reduce the settlement amounts incurred by the violating companies for not completing the procedures for residence permits for their workers or not renewing them during the period for amending the conditions of expatriate workers in violation of the law, explaining that the reduction rate for all companies is 50% in accordance with the provisions of Article 45 of the law regulating the entry, exit and residence of expatriates.

He added that in accordance with the provisions of Law No. (21) of 2015 regulating the entry, exit and residence of expatriates, each violating expatriate or violating foreigner must submit a request for reconciliation within the specified period regarding violations of the aforementioned law to the Search and Follow-up Department or to any of the following service centres: Umm Salal Service Center, Umm Saneem Industrial Services Center previously, Mesaimeer Service Center, Al Wakra Service Center, and Al Rayyan Service Center, to consider exemption or reduction of the reconciliation amount based on the provisions of the aforementioned law.

Brigadier General Al-Ansari also called on all groups benefiting from the correction of their illegal status (expatriates violating residency, expatriates violating work characteristics, and expatriates violating family visits) to review the aforementioned administration or centers, during the aforementioned period, from 1 pm to 6 pm.

The Director of the Unified Services Department at the Ministry of Interior stated that the service centers received, during the last period and since the beginning of the deadline, nearly 20,000 requests from company workers, expecting an increase in turnout after it was decided that the discount rate would be 50 per cent of the value of the violation, stressing that the procedures are easy and are done with the utmost ease with full coordination with the Ministry of Labor.
