Ministry of Interior arrests three persons in Wakra with expired foodstuffs

The Ministry of Interior's Criminal Investigation Department, in coordination with the Preventive Security Department and the competent authorities at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, arrested three persons in Wakra with expired foodstuffs. They were using a house in Al Wakra area to store these expired foodstuffs in order to repackage and resell them.

The ministry said that it received information that there are food stores in one of the houses in Al Wakra area used by the accused to store expired foodstuffs in order to repackages and resell them illegally.

It pointed out that it verified the information and location of the warehouses after intensifying follow-up and investigation operations, adding that after obtaining the necessary permissions in coordination with the competent authorities in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry it raided and searched the house.

The ministry said that the inspection process resulted in the seizure of different quantities of food in two stores, some of which have expired and some that do not have an expiry date. Many empty new bags used for refilling were also found, it said.

It stressed that the foodstuffs were seized and the accused were arrested for investigation and for referring them to the concerned Prosecution to complete the legal procedures followed in this regard.
