They reported the presence of a dugong in the Khor Al Adaid area. Officials from the ministry immediately took action and transferred it to the Fuwairit area (sea turtles project) where ponds are equipped for raising young turtles.
The Ministry announced the name "Ocean" for the dugong that was rescued, making it the first dugong to be named in the region.
After being assessed and cared for in the care facility, it has been confirmed that Ocean is male, about 1.3 meters long, 26 kg in weight, and estimated to be about two weeks of age.
