The Ministry of Education and Higher Education signed an agreement with Ooredoo on digital transformation partnership to enable Qatar National Vision 2030's education innovation and the knowledge-based economy.
This partnership is part of the Ministry's efforts in building long-term relationships with international technology vendors, and supporting Qatar in meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in fostering quality education.
HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulwahed Al Hamadi, said: "Our partnership with Ooredoo is driving better connectivity, more creativity, and the best educational environment fostering innovative learning, teaching, and leadership. With high-speed connectivity across Qatar's schools and kindergartens, we are opening more doors for knowledge, expanded prospects for learning, and borderless innovation and learning."
Ooredoo said in a statement today that the agreement aims at connecting teachers, students, parents, and educational leaders to unlock unique learning opportunities and enhance student performance.
Under the agreement, The Ministry of Education and Higher Education can support the next generation's expectations for mobile devices, apps, and digital tools, and thus teachers can enhance their technological competencies, and students can enhance their scientific research skills. The Ministry is also providing a technology-enabled environment that can enhance the educational environment for students with special needs.
Commenting on the partnership, Chairman of Ooredoo's Board of Directors HE Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Thani said: "Our partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education is one of our largest government connectivity projects, and underlines our support for Qatar National Vision 2030's goals of education innovation".
In particular, Ooredoo is elevating the connectivity at the Ministry's more than 245 public schools and 76 kindergartens. Ooredoo is refreshing the existing Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure and upgrading the Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure to meet the digital requirements of Qatar's current and future educational system.
