The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) issued a warning to the public in a tweet on 28 December 2022 against fraudulent messages that have been circulated on various communication channels.

The messages being sent out have been misusing and bearing the ministry's logo and also contain suspicious links or requests for information like bank account details.
The ministry urged the public to avoid responding to such messages and not to share any of the requested personal details.
