The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has allocated three public land plots to the private sector for the construction and operation of private schools in accordance with the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani, and within the framework of the directives of the Technical Committee of the Ministerial Group for the Encouragement and Participation of the Private Sector in the Economic Development Projects, headed by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al -Thani, by giving greater role to the private sector in the economic development projects in the country.

The allocation of these lands came after the completion of the study and evaluation of bids submitted by developers investors to private schools to win the land on a competitive basis and to conduct interviews, in line with the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to provide diverse, innovative and high-quality educational opportunities for students and their parents, to enhance the role of the private sector in the educational process to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly the human development pillar.

The first school to be built and operated is the Al Khor-based Cardiff School, which follows the Indian curriculum and is intended for boys and girls of all levels and is expected to provide 1,134 class seats.

The second one is for the developer Millennium Holding Company and will be based in Umm Qarn, following the American curriculum, which is for boys and girls of all levels, is expected to provide 1,185 seats, while the third is the Hasnsco School, at Al Khor, following the American curriculum which is intended for boys and girls of all grades. It is expected to have 1053 seats . The tender process will be repeated on two other plots allocated to the national curriculum to compete with the private sector.

In a press statement, Khalid Mohammed Al-Hajri, Director of Public Services Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and member of the Technical Committee for the Encouragement and Participation of the Private Sector in the Economic Development Projects of the Ministerial Group, said that the private schools to be established at these lands include all stages from the kindergarten to the 12th grade, offering diverse opportunities and options for parents and children, as they follow a variety of curricula including the National Curriculum, the American Curriculum and the Indian Curriculum. Together, they provide more than 3,200 class seats to meet the growing demand for education in the context of population growth witnessed by the State of Qatar.

He noted that the land plots were distributed across various areas of the country taking into account the population density, in order to achieve the developmental balance in the distribution of state projects and not be concentrated in one area, stressing that the private sector is a key partner in the educational process. The initiative of issuing land vouchers for the private sector, and the initiative of the public schools, have witnessed a great demand by investors wishing to invest in the private educational sector. The number of land plots allocated to the private sector in the first phase reached (6) with a capacity of more than 7,000 seats.

The technical committee also received many requests from investors inside and outside Qatar, which confirms the attractiveness of investment in the private educational sector, while the study is underway to launch other projects for the private sector in the field of education in a manner that takes into account the aspirations of the state development and contribute to enhancing the private sector role in achieving Qatar National Vision.

The Ministerial Group for the Encouragement and Participation of the Private Sector in the Economic Development Projects develops strategies to support investors in all sectors and give a greater role to the private sector in development projects in various sectors of the state such as food security, health sector, industrial, tourism and logistics areas, through which to reach the stage of self-reliance and self-sufficiency, which reinforces Qatar's sustainable development and creates more promising opportunities and economic options for investors, especially in the field of public and higher education.(QNA)
