The Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment signed today a cooperation agreement on making use of public parks to hold various activities targeting all groups of society to spread the local culture.

Director of the Art's Department at Culture and Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture and Sports Faisal Al Suwaidi said that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of the Ministry's keenness to cooperate with the various State institutions to deliver public benefit to all sectors of society, preserve the national heritage, spread the Qatari culture and highlight its characteristics and continue to implement its strategies.

Assistant Director of Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment Mohamed Ibrahim Al Sada explained that the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Culture and Sports comes within the Ministry of Municipality and Environment's keenness to strengthen relations and support means of cooperation in all fields, including the spread of cultural awareness to highlight and preserve the cultural heritage in implementation of the Qatar National Vision 2030. He also noted that this agreement includes allocating a corner in Dahl Al Hamam Park in Doha to be a site for the heritage village that the Ministry of Culture and Sports will enrich with festivals, events, competitions, and various activities throughout the year.

Al Sada noted that the two sides are represented by each of the Department of Culture and Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Department of Public Parks at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, and the memorandum of joint cooperation includes many items that will determine the role of both sides in the agreement, indicating that the activation of the agreement will be an experiment through the establishment of a number of events in Dahl Al Hamam Park, and then the experiment will be generalized to the rest of the parks.

Head of Doha Municipality's gardens section, Mohamed Abdulla Abbas mentioned that the Ministry of Municipality and Environment works permanently and regularly to support the efforts of all State bodies that aim to provide their services to society, knowing that public parks are an ideal way by all parties to reach all spectrums and groups of society, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment is a strategic partner of various institutions.

He pointed out that the agreement between the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment comes within a series of partnerships that took place between them before, in which cooperation in many aspects was aimed at spreading the local culture and communicating with the youth category through various activities. Abbas also pointed out that in the future there are many agreements with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and that the establishment of events as a first experience in the Dahl Al Hamam Park will be followed by putting the experience subject to evaluation to monitor its pros and cons so that the cons are corrected when generalizing in the rest of the parks, noting that there are approximately 40 parks that will be coordinated in order for activities to be activated in the best way.
