Minister honours police officers who busted drug peddling gang

The Minister of State for Interior Affairs and Chief of Internal Security Force (ISF) H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, felicitated police officers who busted a drug peddling racket, on Thursday. The officers, belonged to the MOI’s various security departments, had successfully foiled a major drug smuggling attempt, described as the biggest-ever in the history of Qatar. Brigadier Mohamed Abdulaziz Al Attiyah, Deputy Chief of Internal Security Force (Lakhawya) and several directors of various security agencies attended the ceremony. The Minister hailed the efforts of the Drug Prevention Department and other security agencies who took part in the operation. He said: “We are proud of this high professional performance that proved the capability and efficient co-operation of the security personnel in Qatar”. He further urged the staff of all security departments to continue their appreciated efforts for maintaining public security and stability in the country. The function was held on the sidelines of the convocation ceremony for Lakhawya staff on the occasion of completing the training season. An operation carried out jointly by several security departments last week, led to thwarting of a drug peddling attempt.
