MET department warns of strong wind, low visibility

Weather inshore until 6 p.m. on Friday will see scattered clouds at first with light rain at some places becomes blowing dust to dusty, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report warning of strong wind over most areas after midday and low horizontal visibility.

Offshore, it will be cloudy with scattered rain maybe thundery at times and becoming dusty later, the report added a warning of expected thunder rain at some places associated with strong wind and high sea.

Wind inshore will be northeasterly 05 to 15 knot turning gradually to northwesterly 18 to 28 gusting 38 knots at places. Offshore, it will be southeasterly to northeasterly 18 to 25/30 knots knot with thunder rain, becoming northwesterly 25-35/45 knot by afternoon.

Visibility will be 4 to 08/02 kilometres or less at places. Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet rises to 5 feet at times. Offshore, it will be 5 to 8/10 feet rises to 8-12/16 feet by afternoon.
