Bacon man

There have been reports of a Yemeni man being arrested at Hamad International Airport in Qatar for trying to bring in almost 12 kilograms of bacon in his anal cavity. The customs office suspected the man because he seemed nervous at the airport and was therefore taken into the office for further investigation.

Their story goes that, Abd al Rahman Shamoun was noticed for suspicious activity when the police dog first focused in on him. Shamoun had 4 condoms hidden in his anal cavity with sliced bacon stuffed in them.

While it is common to find smuggling of illegal drugs and weapons stuffed in different cavities of the bodies, it is for the first time that bacon has been discovered in a human body cavity.

The suspect is certainly going to be facing charges for criminal activity in this instance and could possibly face death penalty with a minimum of 50 lashes and 15 years in prison. Where one might find these incidents strange, airports around the world face similar problems as this is one of the most common ways to illegally bring in anything that people want.

Their story sounds a bit unusual so we're going to be verifying this story for you all.

While the facts are yet to be verified, the sheer possibility that this could actually happen should make you think twice about eating ham here in Doha. You never know where it has been!

We'll get back to you once we learn more.

Update:

Looks like our sister site Doha News beat us to it.

Well surprise surprise, it turns out that 1- that photo is of a terrorist 2- The story is untrue and made up 3- Qatar wouldn't treat smuggling pork into Qatar, the same as smuggling drugs.

Sadly there are sites in Qatar at the moment, that seem to love spreading intentionally made up stories. Spreading false rumors in Qatar is a crime by the way.

The lesson is, if you read something online, make sure that it's either from a credible source or that you take the time to fact check yourself.
