In a Tweet, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) said it has penalized one of the major commercial companies specialized in importing and distributing vegetables and fruits and selling meat, for tampering with the country of origin for vegetables, fruits and meat.
During the inspection, officials found that the company also sells rotten fruits and expired products.

The Ministry affirms that it will firmly confront anyone who neglects to fulfill obligations with regards to consumer protection and its executive regulations and will work to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices, and it will refer anyone who violates laws and ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take action.
The Ministry urges all citizens and residents to report any violations or abuses through its communication channels—call center 16001 and its official social media accounts.
