Madonna fans across the region will be waiting with bated breath until noon today, when tickets for her upcoming show in Abu Dhabi will officially go on sale.
The ‘queen of pop’ is set to perform in the UAE on June 3, and if her shows in Europe and North America are anything to judge by, tickets will not be available for very long. Madonna has sold out venues across the world, and fans in the region will be able to purchase tickets for the upcoming concert at Yas Island from www.thinkflash.ae, as well as Virgin Megastores outlets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
A number of tickets have already been purchased as part of holiday packages at various hotels in Abu Dhabi, but remaining tickets include general admission tickets for AED495, all-seated grandstand tickets for AED695 and golden circle tickets for AED1,095, while VIP hospitality packages are also available for AED2,295.“Each VIP Hospitality package will include a golden circle ticket, exclusive tour gift, official tour programme, a dedicated VIP reception, a commemorative tour laminate, a private entrance to the concert site and a VIP parking pass,” explained a spokesperson.
Organisers also explained that fans travelling from Dubai will be able to avail of an iMan bus service, tickets for which can be purchased with concert tickets for AED85, meaning that Qatar-based concert-goers can also access the Abu Dhabi venue easily from Dubai.
Fans in Qatar have expressed their excitement ahead of the concert, saying that they are surprised and delighted to get the opportunity to see Madonna live in the Gulf region. One British expatriate explained that she has already bought her ticket through a holiday package, and cannot wait to see one of her favourite musicians performing in Abu Dhabi.Social networking websites have also seen many fans discussing the upcoming concert, and planning their trips from Doha to take part in the event.
Such is the appeal and pulling power of the superstar, that many music enthusiasts who may not consider themselves to be fans of her songs are considering going to the concert to see Madonna in action.
“I don’t really like much of her music – especially the more recent stuff, but I have heard that her show is really amazing and worth seeing, so I’m actually thinking about going along,” said music lover John, adding “I love anything to do with live music, and I’ve heard her concerts are pretty special.”
