A website link promising vouchers from LuLu Hypermarket Qatar has been doing the rounds of Qatar from yesterday. This is a spam and don’t open it.

The link promises QR500 worth vouchers for filling up a short survey of 3 questions and asks you to share the link to 10 of your friends to receive the voucher. This has gone viral among the residents of Qatar. Many did the survey thinking they will receive a voucher form LuLu Hypermarkets.

A LuLu official said that the link is spam and there is no such offer from the hypermarket.

“This had happen in Oman and Bahrain before. We have informed our customers through social media and our website that this is a spam and doesn’t have anything to do with LuLu Hypermarket.”

The LuLu post on their social media platform said:

“SPAM ALERT!

Dear fans, beware if you come across this website claiming to give you free vouchers as it is in no way associated with LuLu Hypermarket. Thank you.”

There was similar spam link offering Carefour vouchers some time back.

It is not clear yet where these links are originated, but some IT professionals said it could be an attempt to generate traffic. It is not clear if by clicking the link the user will compromise the data stored on the phone.

Better be careful and avoid clicking or forwarding the link. It is always best to check these links with the organization involved before clicking the link as fake news and links have become very common on social media platforms. (Source)
