The Trump administration's national security adviser Robert O’Brien has mentioned in an interview with The Hill’s editor-at-large Steve Clemons, released today that Donald Trump wants to help lift the blockade against Qatar before he leaves the office in 70 days "in a last push for a diplomatic win", according to The Hill.

While attending the 2020 Global Security Forum, O'Brien has hinted that there could be a "possibility" (The Hill) that the GCC Crisis is resolved. The following is what he told The Hill:

“I'd like to see that get done before — if we end up leaving office — I'd like to see that get done in the next 70 days. And I think there's a possibility for it.
“It's in America's interest to have harmonious relationships within the [Gulf Cooperation Council] because that provides an important counterbalance to Iran.”
“It would open up the opportunity for more peace deals with Israel and creating a real economic opportunity zone across the Middle East and even being able to take that out to other parts of the Muslim and the Arab world.”

According to the Peninsula Qatar, O'Brien talked more about the GCC Crisis at the virtual Forum and mentioned that he was hoping that Qatar Airways could fly over the GCC countries that broke diplomatic ties with Qatar in June 2017 "in the next 70 days".

He also added:

“It is in our interest for the GCC to come together. It is in America’s interest to have harmonious relationships within the GCC,” he said.
“It will bring in real economic opportunities across the Middle East."
“We felt that solving the air link issue, where Qatar Airways be able to fly over Saudi and Bahraini airspace is an important first step in solving that rift, I would like to see that done before if we end up leaving the office." (Peninsula Qatar)
