Applications for the 2017 World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) Awards will be received till tomorrow. This is the ninth edition of WISE Awards and 48 projects have been recognised so far.
The winners of WISE Awards 2017 are expected to be announced in September and honoured at the WISE summit from November 14-16.
A pre-jury will review all eligible applications and shortlist 15 finalists who will be contacted in April.
The WISE film team may visit the 15 finalists on site and an independent, on site innovation assessment conducted between May and June 2017.
Following the assessments, WISE will officially announce the 15 finalists in June 2017.
The jury will review the finalists in August and will announce the six winning projects in September 2017.
The 2017 WISE Awards submission procedure accepts both applications and nominations.
Existing education projects run by any type of organisation in any education sector and from any part of the world can apply or be nominated for the WISE Awards.
Each year, the WISE Awards recognise and promote six successful innovative projects that are addressing global education challenges and that have demonstrated a transformative impact on communities and societies.
They are models of excellence and practice that inspire others through innovation and creative action in education.
The awards highlight initiatives found to be most creative and effective in finding solutions to education challenges at any level and in all environments.
By bringing forward these models, WISE is building a network of recognised change-makers to inspire transformation and innovation in education.
Past winning projects have addressed a wide range of concerns and pursuits, including access to quality education, life-long learning opportunities, and education in emergency contexts.
Applications can only be for original works and original projects and must be submitted by a project representative working within the project.
All applicants must guarantee that the project was originated by their organisation or by themselves.
Individuals who are not directly running the project can submit nominations.
The ideal project would be an on-going, innovative and successful education initiative that has an excellent record of proven success and financially sustainable.
It has to have a clear plan for the project’s future objectives and development and scalable and replicable in other contexts and regions of the world.
The projects need to have a clear understanding and knowledge of its innovation, its distinctiveness within its sphere of action, and the type and depth of its impact on its beneficiaries.
WISE, a global educational initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development, was established in 2009 by chairperson HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. (Source)
