Lagoona Mall Joins Hands with Childhood Cultural Center in support of Educational Campaign
Lagoona Mall, Qatar’s most sophisticated and stylish shopping haven, is hosting the kids and team of the Childhood Cultural Center in support of the organization’s nationwide educational campaign entitled “I am reading”. The campaign, starting on the 22nd of June, will stretch till the 8th of July and aims at promoting the importance of reading amongst the youth motivating parents, as well, to partake in the initiative to embrace and nurture a strong reading culture in the country. Pupils gathered at Lagoona Mall and sat for an engaging workshop that took them through the steps to sound reading and writing in addition to training on new vocabulary to help them enrich their lexicon. Children took turns reading, summarizing and sharing their thoughts amongst encouraging, creative and innovative methods, tips and advice from the Center’s mentors. Mr. Eamon Kelly, General Manager of Lagoona Mall said: “We’re extremely happy with the opportunity to welcome the Childhood Cultural Center and host the young groups of the “I am reading” campaign which certainly has a substantial impact on developing these kids’ reading abilities and talents. Communications and interpersonal skills are today priorities on schools’ academic agendas seeing as how mastering such skills will lead to a knowledge-based generation that is avid for intellect and brainpower. This is why we are very pleased to offer our continued support hoping to grow our partnership with the Center in the future.” The Childhood Cultural Center was founded in 2002 under the initiative of Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser Al Missned to encourage, support and develop social growth in Qatar. The center works on fostering the creativity in children, while developing their interpersonal and communication skills. “I am reading” culminates the steadfast efforts of the Childhood Cultural Center to raise awareness of the significance of cultivating the love of reading at a very young age. The endeavor also plays a central role in strengthening kids’ fondness of textbooks motivating them to seek content that is essential to broadening their intellectual realms and growing a well-rounded personality. It also helps them consider reading as an integral activity during leisure times and a fundamental asset to become well-versed in proper dialogue and communications. Additionally, the tutors of the “I am reading” campaign invest their efforts to see youngsters, banking on their rich knowledge, to aspire to become Qatar’s next creative generation. “I am reading” entails various activities such as reading and book clubs; story-telling and writing workshops and other events organized at children-friendly public areas across the country. The campaign boasts a number of high-profile stakeholders including Qatar’s Ministry of Culture, Arts & Heritage, Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), Qatar National Library, Qatar Foundation, Doha Film Institute (DFI) and Al Jazeera Children’s Channel. - ILQ News -
