The Labour Ministry may tighten procedures for companies applying for labour visas, says a report published in the local Arabic daily Arrayah. In order to ascertain their compliance with schedules of salary payments, the ministry may stipulate submission of salary statements for the previous three months attested by a government auditor. Quoting auditors who had recently attended a meeting convened by the ministry in this regard, the report says that they have been informed of this procedure which may be implemented in the near future. The proposed measure will be effective in weeding out redundant labour and ascertaining the actual number of persons working for the firm under its sponsorship. Any firm which submits incorrect statements is liable for legal action says the report. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=340951&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
