Scotching rumours about a possible delay in the delivery of Barwa’s low-rent housing units, the company has reaffirmed that the tenants will get their keys beginning on February 1, as scheduled. All the tenants have been exempted from paying rents for the month of February, as a special gesture of support from the company. Barwa Housing Program (BHP) has also announced the schedule and procedures for handing over the keys and for shifting the tenant’s furniture to their apartments. A major section of the tenants will get their apartment keys on February 1 and February 2. February 8, 9, 15, 16 are the other dates scheduled for handing over the keys. Separate dates have been given for shifting of furniture. “Handing over the residential units to around 1,000 tenants comes within the frame of the strategic logistical plan adopted by the BHP executive committee. The plan aims to provide the highest standards of safety and security to families, site staff and transport employees, as well as ensuring easy access to thousands of trucks and vehicles to the compound,” said a statement issued by the company yesterday. The tenants must attend personally at Mesaimeer compound at the given time to finalise procedures for the handover. They must furnish a copy of the lease contract, original identification card and a copy of car ownership documents. Working hours for handing over the keys are from 9am to 1pm and from 5pm to 8pm. Working hours for furniture transfer to the residential unit are from 9am to 7 pm.
