A new five-star hotel will open its doors in Doha’s financial district this year. The Bin Samikh Tower, located behind Kempinsky Residences and Suites, will house the Swiss Deluxe Grand Hotel that will be completed in October, said Enrique Pelaez, International Business Development Manager of Harinsa Qatar, the construction company which is building the 44-storey tower. Harinsa, owned by Ecisa, began construction of the tower in 2011, concluding the structure of the building in 15 months without registering any accidents. “The structure is 220 metres tall and we completed it in a record time,” said Pelaez. The main construction company aims to finish the project in October, in order for it to be operative most likely in the first trimester of 2014. The company, specialised in high-rise buildings, will soon start work on another five star hotel very close to Bin Samikh Tower, the Waldorf Astoria. The 42-storey property is expected to open in 2016 and will be within walking distance of the City Center Mall and various ministries, as well as Qatar Exchange and the Doha Convention Centre. Waldor f Astoria Doha West Bay will feature 250 guest rooms and suites as well as 80 large serviced apartments. Amenities will include a ballroom, state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities and a wide range of restaurants. A rooftop pool and a two-storey bespoke health club and spa will also be developed for the property, Hilton Worldwide Middle East & Africa has said. Harinsa is also working on a new compound for over 3,200 expatriate workers in the Industrial Area. The complex will be located in a 128,500sqm area and the project will cost over QR193m. A total of 15 buildings which will have 816 bedrooms, 24 kitchens, leisure areas and all necessary services for 3,264 workers will come up in the compound. It will also include a mosque, a car washing facility, a reception and administration area and a workshop. The Spanish company has also developed two data centres equipped with the most sophisticated facilities and technological equipment, located in the Qatar Science and Technology Park. In addition, the company will soon build three towers in Viva Bahriya, at The Pearl.
