The Peninsula newspaper reported on 14 May 2022, the suspension of all events, festivals, and exhibitions at The Cultural Village Foundation - Katara.

This was an announcement made by the General Manager of Katara, Professor Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti in a tweet on May 13, 2022, to mark the mourning of the death of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.

نعتذر لزوار #كتارا الكرام عن إلغاء جميع الفعاليات والمهرجانات والمعارض وذلك حداداً على وفاة المغفور له بإذن الله صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان، رئيس دولة دولة الامارات العربيه المتحدة الشقيقة، ونسأل الله أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته

In line with the state-wide 3-day mourning, all Katara events will resume on 16 May 2022.
